GALAXIES
Galaxies are some of the most distant sentinels of our universe. They come in all shapes and sizes, in some absolutely imaginative designs. Some of these massive objects house trillions of stars, and many are homes to supermassive black holes actively feeding on stellar material as they grow. Our own galaxy, the Milky Way, is neighbored by a handful of other “island universes” making up our local group.
It’s an amazing feeling to point a telescope into the darkness of space, and collect some photons emitted from the stars in these distant galaxies. Feel free to explore these photos taken from deep space!
